Irrigation
Having an irrigation system and the benefits are only positive. You will find that you actually are conserving water, time, money, your lawn, plants, and flowers.
Water is a natural resource that we sometimes take for granted. Some areas around the world have more than others, some are affected, with pollution, filtering systems, or lack there of, and we want to make sure that we are using it as effectively as possible. Using an irrigation system is a great way to save on water, as you are only using what you need and when you need it.
Time is money. The time it takes for you to keep going out to move the hose or sprinkler and keep looking up at the clock to see if it is time, with an irrigation system it will be on a timer so that you don’t have to worry about that. In the long and short run, this is going to save you your valuable time and money. Those water bills won’t be as high either! You may also live in an area where there are water restrictions, so you will also benefit from using an irrigation system for this reason as well.
Even though most lawns need a lot of water, it is possible to over water, which in turn can cause fungus and disease to your lawn. To create the most environmentally friendly lawn, watering in the early morning hours are best when the wind is calm and usually cooler.
As far as your lawn, plants, and flowers, they will be looking as beautiful as ever. The irrigation system will be strategically placed so that it will give you the best coverage. You can also program your system to know when to water more or less depending on the needs of your lawn and plants, for example, when your grass is turning a blue or grayish color, as it may not be getting enough water. The great thing is that you can adjust your pressure and timing whenever you need to.

Time To Fertilize
Spring is here and the best time to fertilize your lawn here in Texas is in spring. You will want to apply fertilizer to your lawn when you see your grass starting to turn green. This tells you that your lawn is coming out of the dormancy stage into the growing stage. If you fertilize your lawn before your grass starts growing, you will waste the fertilizer by feeding any weeds that are in your lawn which will encourage weed growth. Timing is essential.
The type of fertilizer that is best to use in the sping is the fertilizer that is highest in nitrogen. On every fertilizer bag there are three numbers. The first number represents the nitrogen. The higher the first number, the more nitrogen the fertilizer contains. This will help kick start your lawn to become green and healthy.
Always make sure you read the label on the fertilizer to determine the correct amount that your lawn will need. Fertilizers are usually based on 1,000 square foot area. You will need to measure your lawn and select the correct calibration on your spreader in order to spread the correct amount on your lawn. If you use too much you can run the risk of burning your lawn. If you do not use enough, you will not get the best results from your fertilizer.
Make sure you do not apply the fertilizer during a drought or after a substantial amount of rain. After you apply the fertilizer, you will need to apply at least 1" of water within 30 days to activate the fertilizer. If you do not water your lawn after fertilizing, the fertilizer will burn your grass and it will be difficult to correct the mistake.
Fertilizing is a very important step in maintaining or building a healthy lawn. It helps to promote a healthy lawn that will help with weeds and give you satisfying results. Make sure you always read the label before applying anything to your lawn. Apply fertilizer only on lawns that are starting to become green and don't forget to water in the fertilizer to activate it. Happy fertilizing!

Weed Control
It looks like we had our last freeze for the winter and boy was that a freeze. I hope everyone enjoyed making their snowman this year. We enjoyed looking at all the different snowmen that were visible from the highway while driving through town. With all the snow melting away and the sun coming back out, it makes us start thinking about spring.
Since we are going into spring, how can you help your lawn be weed free this year? Is it even possible?
Yes! It is possible. The best way is to have a healthy lawn. A healthy lawn will help choke out the weeds so they will never grow to maturity. If your lawn needs a little persuasion, your best defense will be to apply a pre emergent.
What is a pre emergent? A pre emergent is one of our liquid applications that we use to prevent weeds from growing in your yard. While we are out on your lawn if you have weeds that have already started growing we will take care of those also by applying a post emergent. A post emergent will rid your lawn of any weeds that have already germinated or that you can visibly see.
We are currently applying pre and post emergents because now is the time to fight those weeds and get them under control so you can have a weed free lawn.
If you are having weed problems and would like your yard to be weed free call us today for a free consultation. We will come out, evaluate your yard and let you know if any, the problems you are having and the solution to fix the problems. We will talk to you to find out what your goals are and discuss your options to see what is best for your individual needs so you can enjoy having a healthy green lawn this year.
